The TEAMS Math Olympics is an fun and engaging annual competition for grade 7 and 8 students. It involves a written test, two paired activities and a randomly-selected four-person team activity. Prizes are awarded to the top three boys and girls in grades 7 and 8, as well as to those students who show leadership and work collaboratively with others.
Schools in the TEAMS region are invited to enter up to two teams of two students, with each team consisting of 1 boy and 1 girl, one of whom must be in grade 7, the other in grade 8. This encourages equity and diversity in our participating students. The TEAMS region consists of schools in the TCDSB and those in the TDSB from the following legacy boards (pre-1998 amalgamation): Toronto, York, East York and Etobicoke. Students from the neighbouring Toronto regions (e.g. Y4MA and SAME) are welcome to compete, but would then be ineligible to compete in their local regional competitions.
The 2026 TEAMS Math Olympics was held on Saturday, April 18. Fifty mathletes from schools from across the GTA took part in an exciting day of challenging math activities.
If your school is interested in attending in 2027, keep an eye on this space in the new year. If you want more information, contact us at TEAMS@oame.on.ca.
In the meantime, feel free to try some of the activities at the TEAMS Online Math Club.
Congratulations to our winning mathletes
