Oak Valley MTSS Information

MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of support)

Students who are struggling academically, socially or behaviorally may need additional support. The same holds true for students working above grade level expectations.

Students will be screened using universal screening to initially identify any students who are not meeting expected benchmarks in the areas of reading, writing, and math. Students who are placed in IRC or receive special education services will receive specialized instruction to address skill deficits. The responsibility of the teacher it to ensure the student continues to have access to grade level instruction and standards. This may require the teacher to make accommodations, and consider various forms of assessment to allow students the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge. Students who are not making progress after the initial 8 weeks of intervention will be referred for a Student Study Team meeting (SST).

In addition to academics, Oak Valley has implemented Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports as part of the MTSS system. The goal of PBIS is to teach and reinforce desired behaviors. Students who need additional support for behavior will receive increasing levels of intervention addressed through the school’s SST process.
