Leigh Academy Oaks- Principal's Bulletin

Dear Parents & Carers,
It is difficult to believe that we have reached the end of another week. Classes have been extremely busy with their learning and it has been wonderful to see the enthusiasm in every class across the week. A highlight for me has been hearing all about the textiles and sewing project that has been happening in Year 4 this week. I know all of the pupils in Year 4 have worked incredibly hard on the planning, making and embellishing of their bag. Sewing is a tricky skill and all of the pupils demonstrated some real resilience to ensure they were successful.
Today we celebrated a 'Wear it RED' event in the academy for the World Heart Foundation. It was wonderful to see everyone sponsor this event by wearing a much, or as little, red as possible. I am pleased to share with you that we collectively raised an impressive £359. Thank you to you all for your ongoing and continued support. A final thank you to Mrs Osborne for being behind organising the event on the behalf of the academy.
Have an enjoyable weekend.
Best wishes,
Mr L Coulson
As the weather begins to turn colder and wetter, please remember to send your child into the academy wearing a coat. As always, it is really important that all clothing items are named so if they become misplaced, they can be returned to the correct owner.
Thank you for your donations to support our World Heart Day charity day today. All donations will be greatly appreciated by the charity and we have been blown away by the total raised.
Thank you to parents and carers for supporting the academy to keep the bikes and scooters neatly stored in the shed in the morning. We also ask that bikes and scooters are not ridden on the academy site until pupils are out of the gate. This is to ensure that no one gets hit or bumped into as the exit gate can become quite congested at the end of the day.
We encourage parents and carers to visit our curriculum pages on our academy website so they have a greater overiew and understanding of the curriculum objectives for each year group. Most celebrations and theme days will naturally be covered through the inclusive curriculum that we deliver at Leigh Academy Oaks.
We are looking forward to our European day of Languages assembly on Monday 30th September. Mr Syred has been busy working on the video celebration of languages across our academy and is excited to share this with pupils on Monday.
Parents and carers are asked NOT to use their mobile phone whilst on the academy site. Members of staff will politely request you to end calls on the academy site. The use of mobile phones on site also extends to taking photographs and videos.
At Leigh Academy Oaks, we take great pride in the appearance of our pupils and expect all members of our academy to adhere to our uniform standards. You can view our uniform expectations HERE. Please ensure that all uniform is named and checked regularly.
This is a polite reminder to all parents and carers who drive to our academy. We appreciate that parking around the academy is limited an it can be difficult to find a space. However, please do not park; on double yellow lines, on the junctions, over dropped kerbs or the yellow zig-zag markings near our gates. Parking in the areas mentioned previously creates dangerous crossing conditions for pedestrians, our pupils and their families.
Make sure you follow us on Facebook to keep informed with updates and photos about what's happening during the school week.
