Leigh Academy Oaks- Principal's Bulletin
4th October 2024
4th October 2024
Dear Parents & Carers,
This week has been full of many positives that it is nice to sit back and reflect upon when writing this edition of the Principal's Bulletin. We have been delighted to welcome back to Mrs Baldwin this week who has returned from her maternity leave. Mrs Baldwin has joined us in Year One, delivering the learning and teaching alongside Miss Brandon. We know that Mrs Baldwin is delighted to be back in the academy and working alongside our dedicated team and pupils.
We have also been fortunate enough for our pupils to work alongside Dom Plumb. Dom came into our academy to work alongside each class to promote health, related fitness. All the pupils that took part enjoyed the session they went with Dom and he is looking forward to working with many of our pupils again in the near future.
Even though this year has only just begun, we have to turn our attention to next year and the new reception intake of 2025. Holding our first two reception intake tours this week has been an enjoyable experience in standing back and explaining to potential new families how wonderful the pupils of Leigh Academy Oaks are.
From speaking with Mr Perkins and the Year 6 pupils, they have enjoyed working with Mr Wilmoth this week to further develop and refine their skills and knowledge across the curriculum.
Every class was also fortunate enough to experience the 'Captain Wonderweb' production. It was clear to see that this was enjoyed by all as there were smiles, laughter and learning all around the important topic of looking after yourself.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Mr L Coulson
It is with regret that we inform you that Mrs Weller, YR 2 Blackbirds, has taken the difficult decision to leave the academy. Mrs Weller has decided that she has reached a point in her life where she needs to take the next step and leap into running her own business. This is a huge decision for Mrs Weller and one that she has not taken lightly. We know that all at Leigh Academy Oaks will be sad to see her go but we all wish her every success for her future endeavours. Finally, We would like to thank Mrs Weller for the support and guidance she has provided to many pupils throughout her time working here at formerly Oaks Primary Academy and now Leigh Academy Oaks.
As the weather begins to turn colder and wetter, please remember to send your child into the academy wearing a coat. As always, it is really important that all clothing items are named so if they become misplaced, they can be returned to the correct owner.
Thank you to parents and carers for supporting the academy to keep the bikes and scooters neatly stored in the shed in the morning. We also ask that bikes and scooters are not ridden on the academy site until pupils are out of the gate. This is to ensure that no one gets hit or bumped into as the exit gate can become quite congested at the end of the day.
We encourage parents and carers to visit our curriculum pages on our academy website so they have a greater overiew and understanding of the curriculum objectives for each year group. Most celebrations and theme days will naturally be covered through the inclusive curriculum that we deliver at Leigh Academy Oaks.
Parents and carers are asked NOT to use their mobile phone whilst on the academy site. Members of staff will politely request you to end calls on the academy site. The use of mobile phones on site also extends to taking photographs and videos.
At Leigh Academy Oaks, we take great pride in the appearance of our pupils and expect all members of our academy to adhere to our uniform standards. You can view our uniform expectations HERE. Please ensure that all uniform is named and checked regularly.
This is a polite reminder to all parents and carers who drive to our academy. We appreciate that parking around the academy is limited an it can be difficult to find a space. However, please do not park; on double yellow lines, on the junctions, over dropped kerbs or the yellow zig-zag markings near our gates. Parking in the areas mentioned previously creates dangerous crossing conditions for pedestrians, our pupils and their families.
Make sure you follow us on Facebook to keep informed with updates and photos about what's happening during the school week.
