We are delighted that YEar 6 have started to visit other classes to interview the pupils about their learning from that week. It provides an excellent opportunity for pupils to practise key conversational and social skills together as well as share in the joy of learning at Oaks.
Jaelynn spoke to Year 2 and here is what she learned from their session with Dom Plumb this week, who visited from Fitter Stronger Faster gym.
Year 2 when they were skipping. They learnt that they could walk while they are skipping, how to do a cartwheel with one hand, how to do a headstand with one hand. They children think that it will help them be better risk takers. They think that because they can do these skills better now than before.
Year 2 also asked Dom lots of questions about his job owning a gym: What do you do at the gym? What was it like in london? They learned that there are different types of weights, and treadmills in different sizes. Blackbirds are very excited to one day go to his gym. The gym is all about being fit and strong with your mind and your body.
Logan interviewed some children from Year 3 about their participation in the Road Safety Workshop today:
Year 3 learned about how to cross the road safely and the safety code of the road. The safety code is to stand behind the curb, look, wait, Think and hold hands with a grown up. The pupils have also watched a video of a teddy bear forgetting how to cross the road and the pupils had to say the actions on how the bear should have crossed the road safely. They enjoyed it. The entire class had fun doing the road safety workshop.
James Lee interviewed some children from Year 4 about the performance this week from Shooting Stars Entertainment and Captain Wonderweb and the Esteem Machine.
Pupils learned about how to be healthy and safe online. They found the show enjoyable. Their actions that they learned which will help them to feel good are for eating healthy and getting more sleep. The show teaches you to go outside more instead of being on electronics.
In the classroom, the Year 4 inquiry is about how women can change the world. Year 4 have been learning about famous painters. Their new book is called Queen of Falls. At the moment they only have read that the lady that owns a charm school gets in a barrel and travels down Niagara falls.
Cody and Jordan interviewed some Year 6 pupils: make sure to listen to their podcasts on the online safety page!
Pupils learned new knowledge by learning about the 7 'Ps' and using complex passwords instead of ones which are easy to guess.
We learned that we always need to be kind to others (online and in person) even if they are being rude to you too. We know that cyberbullying is very bad for everyone and we have shared ways to report it.
We all shareed about how we can be more careful when we play games.
Do you need to make a stronger password?
Step 1: You mainly have to get three random objects you will remember.
Step 2: Pick a number to add in somewhere. Step 3: Don't forget a special character!
