Leigh Academy Oaks- Principal's Bulletin 11

29th November 2024
Dear Parents & Carers,
This week has been rather exciting for me as I have been able to get out and see some events our pupils have taken part in outside of the academy. It was a pleasure to go and watch the Leigh Academy Oaks football teams play against Leigh Academy Langley Park. The final scores may not have gone in our favour but I was particularly impressed with the determination, resilience and sportsmanship both our teams demonstrated. The Oaks teams really conducted themselves well and shone out in showing the Learner Profile Attributes of Principled and Balanced.
Our very own 'Oaks Voices' were out today singing in Maidstone town centre to aid in fundraising for Demelza House. Hearing our children sing festive songs out in the community was a delight and has really set the tone for the festive period at Oaks.
A very large well done to the pupils who represented us in the football event and at the 'Carolathon', a proud moment as Principal. I would also like to extend my thanks to Mrs Palmer for organising the sporting fixtures and to our musical duo, Miss Dunn and Mrs Bennoson for their work with the singing.
On Thursday, I shared with you all some disappointing news regarding parking around the academy. I strongly urge all parents and carers who drive to our academy to take notice and be cautious, caring and considerate at drop off/collection times. The outcome of this incident could have been very different and we are all thankful that wasn't the case.
I wish you all a restful weekend, keep warm!
Best Wishes
Mr L Coulson
Bookings for the school Christmas dinner close on Monday. Please ensure you have completed the form indicating whether your child will be having a Christmas dinner or not. We cannot accept orders after this deadline.
Please keep a eye on our Key Dates document as this will contain important information about celebrations or events that are happening in the academy.
As the weather begins to turn colder and wetter, please remember to send your child into the academy wearing a coat. As always, it is really important that all clothing items are named so if they become misplaced, they can be returned to the correct owner.
We encourage parents and carers to visit our curriculum pages on our academy website so they have a greater overview and understanding of the curriculum objectives for each year group. Most celebrations and theme days will naturally be covered through the inclusive curriculum that we deliver at Leigh Academy Oaks.
Parents and carers are asked NOT to use their mobile phone whilst on the academy site. Members of staff will politely request you to end calls on the academy site. The use of mobile phones on site also extends to taking photographs and videos.
At Leigh Academy Oaks, we take great pride in the appearance of our pupils and expect all members of our academy to adhere to our uniform standards. You can view our uniform expectations HERE. Please ensure that all uniform is named and checked regularly.
Make sure you follow us on Facebook to keep informed with updates and photos about what's happening during the school week.
