Mr Forman's literacy class - narrative writing

WALA (we are learning about)

• narrative structure -orientation (characters, setting, time), plot (problem, rising action, climax, falling action), resolution, ending and theme
• narrative language features:

* characters with an identity,

* descriptive language,

* powerful action verbs,

* specific nouns (mansion rather than house, detective inspector rather than police officer)

** past tense verbs (grabbed rather than grab, hobbled rather than hobble, was rather than is)

• we are also focusing on using a variety of simple, compound and complex sentences,
• and organising our ideas into paragraphs
