Chair & Associate Professor of Economics - Oakland University
I am Chair & Associate Professor of Economics at Oakland University. I earned my Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from Wayne State University, and my MBA and B.S. in Accounting from the Lebanese American University.
My research focuses on macroeconomics, energy economics, applied time-series econometrics, and financial economics, with particular emphasis on oil price shocks, macro-financial linkages, and asset-return predictability. My work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including The Energy Journal, Energy Economics, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Empirical Economics, Economics Letters, The Journal of Portfolio Management, and International Review of Economics & Finance.
I have extensive teaching experience at the undergraduate, graduate, and executive levels, including courses such as Global Macroeconomic Environment of Business (EMBA), Economics for Managers (MBA), Special Topics in Economics (MBA), Mathematical Analysis for Economics, Intermediate Macroeconomics, Financial Markets and the Economy, Monetary Theory, and Principles of Microeconomics.
I currently serve as an associate editor for the Journal of Economics and Finance and referee for several leading economics and energy journals. I was named the Peterson Family Scholar of Economics for the 2024-2027 period.
