I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Oakland University. I teach Biochemistry (BIO 3232) and Advanced Topics in Cellular Biochemistry and Metabolism (BIO 5256). I am a member of the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) and the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB). I served as an Early Career Reviewer for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 2024 and was a member of the Early Career Reviewer (ECR) Board at the Journal of Biological Chemistry (JBC) from 2022-2025.
Prior to that, I completed my postdoctoral training at the University of Michigan Life Sciences Institute, focusing on the autophagy regulation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. I received my PhD in Cell Biology and Molecular Physiology from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. My graduate work focused primarily on virus-host interactions at the maternal-fetal interface, utilizing placental trophoblasts as an in vitro model for virus entry and host defense during pregnancy.
