I offer a variety of courses within OU's Political Science and International Relations majors, including:
Introduction to International Relations
International Political Economy
International Law
Model United Nations
Data Analysis for Political Science
I also periodically teach: States and Markets, Political and Economic Development, and US Foreign Policy.
Outside the classroom, I serve as advisor to multiple student groups, including OU's award-winning Model UN team.
I regularly supervise undergraduate research, including honors theses, capstone projects, and conference papers. Recent student projects have focused on the following areas:
Public attitudes toward free trade in Michigan
Regulatory problems with the foreign acquisition of residential real estate in the United States
An English School approach to explaining Rhodesian foreign policy
The economic and political consequences of BREXIT for the EU
Japanese foreign policy toward North Korea
From 2020 to 2022, I served as advisor to OU's Nu Omega chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha (PSA), the national political science honor society. In addition to celebrating academic excellence, our chapter maintains a robust agenda of events and social gatherings consistent with our mission to promote intelligent and productive interest in politics and government.
Each year, we send members of Nu Omega to the National Student Research Conference in Washington, DC. OU proudly holds the national record for the greatest number of students presenting at the conference since its inception!
During my two-year tenure as PSA advisor, Nu Omega received the national "Best Chapter Award" on two occasions. We were the only chapter in Michigan to receive this distinction in 2020 and 2021.
