5th Language Arts

Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking are the FOUR pillars of our LA Classroom. 

These skills are honed through a variety of activities including: 

• "Attendance Questions" or quick write assignments. Students practice their presentation skills by sharing these aloud daily.

• Individual i-ready reading for one class period per week.

• Fiction Read Aloud - comprehension & inferencing using "Notice & Note" Fiction Signposts.

• Nonfiction Reading with Scholastic Magazine using "Notice & Note" NF Signposts.

• Grammar & Spelling skills using Flocabulary.

• Independent Reading Choice time.

• Writing - Opinion, Informative, Narrative
