This year we will be using standards based grading to assess progress in math class. Directions on how to use PowerSchool to stay up to date in a standards based class, please follow these DIRECTIONS.
For reference, MCAS will assess grade level standards. To be prepared for MCAS you should be working toward level 3 or 4 mastery levels.
Homework is provided for practice and completing it counts toward the grade for "preparedness". It will not raise the standard grade for that unit. For example, if a student goes back and completes homework assignments from Unit 3 but doesn't retake the test, it will impact their preparedness average, but not the mastery level for Unit 3.
The "average" grade that you see in the portal will not appear on the report card. The grades that will appear on the report card can be found under "standards". Directions for finding these grades can be found in the link at the top of the page.
Students are always allowed to demonstrate a higher level of mastery then they did on previous tests. The procedure for retakes is to make corrections on the test, then do some practice problems. Students can do this during resource or after school. The retake must be taken at least 24 hours later.
