11th Grade – Mr. Junge

Our small (16 strong) but mighty group of 11th grade OSA Visual Art students has managed, in a time of physical isolation, and mushy deadlines, to create not only an impressive body of work (in a variety of media) but an quirky, thoughtful and supportive virtual community. These are awesome young artists.

Here a few of the projects you may see in this show ( in no particular order):

  • *Speed paintings - (acrylic paintings completed in a 3 hour time period) that include works from color photos, self-portraits from life, still- lives, portraits of friends & family, portraits of African-American OSA Staff members, and paintings in response to a contemporary political or social issue. *Works illustrating song lyrics or inspired by music * Graphic design projects creating the visual branding for OSA's annual Heart of Oakland Event *Pixel Project - a color mixing project & right of passage, recreating a pixelated image taken from popular culture *A selection of artworks independently conceived and created by the students, reflecting their individual practice
