The team assists with the planning and implementation of professional development, lead book study groups, observe/model for classroom teachers and provide feedback, . They also meet monthly to discuss how the goals are being met, and work on the next professional development days.

I have taught Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education for 29 years at Orient-Macksburg School. My husband Tim and I live southeast of Orient. We have two grown children Spencer who recently married to Dana Gordon and Abigail who recently graduated from UNI.

My name is Samantha Thompson and I am an instructional coach focusing on reading instruction and classroom management. I have been with the district for 7 years now. I teach 5th and 6th grade. You may also see me working at Kramer's Cafe here in Orient. In my spare time I love spending time with my husband Matt Thompson. He farms with his family, sells seed, and crop insurance. We have a son, Carson, who is currently at SWCC attending the welding program. We also have a daughter Mattie who is in the 5th grade, here at O-M schools. We love being apart of the community and couldn't ask for a better place to raise a family.

I'm a 2008 Orient-Macksburg graduate. My husband Galen farms in the area with his family and we have two daughters, Tatum and Dylan. This is my seventh year teaching at Orient-Macksburg. I received my bachelor's degree in elementary education with a social studies concentration from Buena Vista University. I also hold a K-12 TAG endorsement from Viterbo University. I've held positions in TAG, At Risk, elementary classroom as well as various coaching positions. I'm currently serving this team as a K-12 instructional coach.
We are so fortunate to have Chromebooks, making us a K-12 1:1 district! I loved using technology in the classroom and I feel that it's a great motivator for the students. I believe there are many tools to keep the students learning and more engaged and the resources available online are endless! I am grateful for the opportunity to share my love for technology with other teachers in our district and help them find tools to support their instruction.

I began my teaching career in the 2007-2008 school year at Clarke Community School District, in Osceola, Iowa. While there I was one of the high school special education teachers, and was also at the Clarke Learning Center (alternative school).
From 2009-2013, I worked at East Union Community School District. While there, I was a secondary special education teacher, and also worked in the preschool.
In the 2013/2014 school year, I came to Orient-Macksburg, as the secondary special education teacher.
I'm originally from Osceola, Iowa, and graduated from Clarke Community School District, in 2002. In 2007, I graduated from Graceland University, with a degree in Elementary Education, reading and K-12 special education.

I began my career at O-M in 2016-2017 after graduating from Drake University. My husband and I met at college and currently live in Winterset with our two-year-old son Henry and six-month-old August.
At Orient-Macksburg, I serve as the 7-12 English teacher, speech coach, and director of the fall play, as well as the mentor teacher. As mentor teacher, I offer support and guidance to those who are new to the district.
