This October, immerse yourself in a curated selection of groundbreaking short films that showcase the diverse voices and innovative storytelling emerging from across the continent. Between screenings, engage in thought-provoking panel discussions with filmmakers, critics, and industry leaders who are shaping the future of African film. Join us to explore how African narratives are transforming the global cinematic landscape and to celebrate the rich tapestry of moving images from one of the world's most dynamic regions. All panels will be livestreamed, and all sessions will be free to attend.
Awam Amkpa is a professor of drama, film and social and cultural analysis at New York University in New York and Abu Dhabi. Awam Amkpa is an Actor, playwright, director of stage plays, films and curator of visual arts. Awam Amkpa is the author of Theatre and Postcolonial Desires (Routledge, 2003). He is director of film documentaries and curator of photographic exhibitions and film festivals. Amkpa has written several articles on representations in Africa and its diasporas, representations, and modernisms in theater, postcolonial theater, and Black Atlantic films.
Nicole is an acclaimed TV / Film producer cited in The Financial Times “Top 25 Africans to Watch” list, after a successful launch of the hit web series 'An African City', dubbed by CNN and the BBC as “Africa's answer to Sex and the City”
Wale Ojo was born in London, England on the 9th September. He became a child star working mainly on drama series and television soaps with Africa's first television station, WNTV IBADAN. His acting career in the United Kingdom began in 1986 where he played a very young OTHELLO in the east end of London. He has gone on to appear in most of the theaters in the United Kingdom. He is popularly known for his comedy series MEET THE ADEBANJOS (2012-2014) which bagged him a nomination for BEST COMEDY ACTOR at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards in 2018 and and his first break away movie which gained him enormous popularity in Nigeria is the film PHONE SWAP for which he won the award for BEST ACTOR at the Nigeria Lite Entertainment Awards.
Collins Okoh is a renowned script and creative writer with a diverse portfolio in television, film, and digital media. His work includes TV dramas such as ‘MY SIBLINGS AND I’ and ‘JENIFA’S DIARY,’ and the web series ‘JENIFA ON LOCKDOWN.’ He has co-written the scripts for top Nollywood films like ‘A TRIBE CALLED JUDAH’ and ‘OMO GHETTO, THE SAGA,’ which are the highest and third-highest grossing Nollywood films of all time. Collins has also contributed to ‘SHE MUST BE OBEYED,’ an Amazon Prime Video Original Series, and the short film ‘LEAVE TO LIVE,’ commissioned by Caritas Nigeria for World Day Against Human Trafficking 2022. Known for his speed and precision, Collins is dedicated to crafting impactful stories and is eager to collaborate with industry professionals to further his brand.
