Firstyear Challenge
My biggest challenge in my first year at NYU was adjusting to a new lifestyle. The city is a very fast paced environment and as a student-athlete my schedule was very rigorous. However, the support system at NYU truly helped me adapt to my new environment and overcome all the challenges I faced.
Hi! My name is Ava! This summer I started rock climbing and used to figure skate growing up. I love trying new restaurants and am always open to recs (add me on beli: @burntdumpling)
Firstyear Challenge
Internalizing what I wanted to do vs what I should do. Before I would go to bed, I would create a list of things I wanted to do the next day and created a schedule detailing what I should do and the timing of things.
Business student from Georgia; my favorite number is 6!
Firstyear Challenge
My biggest challenge was finding my role within the school and navigating my way through the new environment.
Hi! I’m Fiona, a sophomore double majoring in economics and politics. During the week, you can find me sipping an oat matcha, working in the law pavilion, or shopping for Smiskis :)
Firstyear Challenge
As a humanities-leaning student, navigating upper-division STEM courses was initially difficult. Thankfully, revised study methods, frequent office-hour visits, and the occasional Joe’s Pizza made all the difference.
Hi, I’m Isabella, a sophomore in CAS studying Economics in the Presidential Honors Scholars Program! At NYU, I’m part of Bite Club, a food publication, where I write food reviews. As a native New Yorker, I love thrifting, exploring, sharing city recs, and I’m also a big soccer fan!
Firstyear Challenge
My biggest challenge at NYU was learning how to study, as silly as that may sound. In high school, a quick review was all that was necessary, but college forced me to build real study habits and stay consistent! The CAS ULC and asking TAs for advice really helped me adjust!
Dramatic Writing major; Carole King enthusiast; kid of aging rockstars; grew up going between New Jersey and New Orleans; aspiring Broadway musical writer and producer; cannot keep orchids alive but tries really hard.
Firstyear Challenge
Stressing that I was going to miss an opportunity critical for building my career. I overcame this by utilizing the Tisch and Wasserman Career Centers for grants and internship opportunities.
