A. Students are encouraged to acquire teaching experience during their career as a PSI student because it is integral to professional growth and marketability.
B. However, neither the department nor the PSI program have a formal teaching requirement.
C. Summer and semester teaching opportunities supplement the Steinhardt fellowship.
D. Opportunities for teaching are available through various Departments in Steinhardt (e.g., Applied Psychology, Teaching & Learning, Applied Statistics, Social Science and Humanities) and in Arts & Science (e.g., Psychology, Sociology).
The department of Applied Psychology has yearly open positions for some PhD students to serve as Teaching Assistants or Instructors. Every year, a survey is sent out to assess student interest in teaching opportunities.
Students should discuss with their primary mentors about when and how to incorporate teaching experience into their professional development.
