All workshop participants are invited to present a poster on Saturday or Sunday that showcases teaching or curriculum materials related to expanded topics in music theory or aural skills pedagogy, such as global music, popular music, or repertoire by underrepresented composers. This is an opportunity to share resources that may benefit others, showcase innovative teaching ideas, and receive feedback on work-in-progress materials from fellow participants.
Some poster topics may include:
Syllabi
Lesson plans
Classroom activities, assignments, or projects
Curriculum plans
Original or curated teaching tools or resources
Analyses of repertoire suitable to classroom instruction
Strategies for integrating new topics into existing curricula
Lunch will be provided during the poster sessions on Saturday and Sunday to encourage conversation and networking. Easels will be available for all presenters. Posters should be sized at 36" x 48" in landscape orientation. Audio may be included as part of the presentation, but headphones must be used. Presenters are encouraged to include a QR code linking to any shared materials and are welcome to upload resources in advance to the shared conference folder. For guidance on creating an effective poster, please see SMT’s Poster Guide here.
Poster presenters must be registered for the conference and able to attend in person to present their poster. If you're registered and interested in presenting, please complete the form below by May 15th. The presentation schedule will be confirmed with participants and published on the workshop schedule on the 16th.
