Analysis Phase
I have structured my research question with the aim of providing a guide to discovering gaps in the realm of growth mindset training for NYU graduate students that need to be filled. This will then lead the needs, learner, and content analyses that will provide valuable insights before beginning the design phase of ideating a learning solution, which is represented by the ADDIE Model.
Research Question
What are the current perceptions, beliefs, and attitudes towards a growth mindset among NYU graduate students across different disciplines?
How do these factors influence their ability to embrace challenges and setbacks in their academic pursuits?
What are the key motivational factors and preferred learning approaches that should inform the design of a growth mindset training program tailored for this audience?
Significance and Contribution
This research question offers a comprehensive lens through which I can understand the complex interplay between graduate students' perceptions, beliefs, and attitudes towards adopting a growth mindset, which can be measured using a survey. By unraveling these intricacies, I will be able to gain invaluable insights that will inform my design of the growth mindset training design. This research not only contributes to the instructional design field by offering a holistic framework for addressing the unique needs of NYU graduate students as it pertains to learning and adopting a growth mindset, but it also promises to enhance their resilience, motivation, and academic performance in both educational and professional settings.
