The rising star symposium offers an online platform for early career researchers (senior PhDs, Postdocs, Assistant Professors, and industry researchers), especially those who are going to be on the job market, to present their research, practice job talks, and seek collaboration and employment opportunities.
The online symposium is broadly focused on the security, resilience, and privacy challenges in cyber-physical systems (CPS) and solicits contributions on theoretical foundations and practical applications. As an inclusive forum, the symposium welcomes young scholars from all walks of research, such as control and optimization, operations research, computer science, network science & engineering, and artificial intelligence.
At the end of each academic year, the technical committee will recognize one of the rising star speakers as the Rising Star of the Year, who will receive a certificate by the end of the summer.
The symposium is a bi-weekly online seminar series over Zoom with RSVPs. The seminar would be a standard one-hour talk with 45-50 minutes of presentation plus 10-15 minutes of QA. To maximize participation and engagement, the online seminar usually begins at 1:00–2:00 pm UTC (6–7 am US West, 9–10 am US East, 2–3 pm UK, 3–4 pm CET, 6:30–7:30 pm India, 9–10 pm China)
Each rising star presentation will be recorded and archived on the TCSP YouTube channel.
We welcome nominations from researchers and practitioners from all walks of CPS research, not necessarily confined to IEEE CSS only, and also self-nominations from young scholars through the nomination form. The early-career committee under TCSP will evaluate the nomination and schedule the presentation. We strive to create an open and inclusive online forum and will try our best to help each early-career researcher promote their research.
