Michelle Thompson Gumbs is the Senior GIS Specialist specializing in ArcGIS tools such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS StoryMaps, with 12+ years of experience with GIS. . Michelle holds masters degrees in Geographic Information Systems, criminal justice, and human resource management and development. She is interested in how GIS can help tell the story of how physical and social environmental factors can interact and impact human behavior.
Nicholas Wolf is co-head of Data Services and a Research Data Management Librarian. He has a PhD in history and a master’s degree in library and information science. He specializes in teaching data cleaning, Python, and text-as-data analysis.
Patrick J. Burns is Associate Research Scholar, Digital Projects at NYU's Institute for the Study of the Ancient World Library working in ancient-world data processing and historical language text mining and analysis. In his role at NYU Libraries, Patrick is primarily a Python programmer and has taught classes and led workshops designed to support the ISAW/NYU community in programming-based research methods. He has also long been active in the NYUDH community and was an instructo during the 2025 JTerm FORC Camp.
Timothy Schaffer is a Senior Educational Technology Specialist with the Arts & Science Office of Educational Technology who works primarily in support of NYU Liberal Studies faculty. He has worked on a variety of projects involving metadata management, IIIF images, ArcGIS StoryMaps, podcasting, and AR/VR. He is a certified Carpentries instructor and has experience helping students and faculty use data in courses related to humanities, arts, and cultures.
Alex Provo is a Research Curation Librarian at NYU Libraries. She has an MA in interdisciplinary studies from NYU, an MSLIS from Pratt Institute, and a BA in art history from Wesleyan University. At Data Services she teaches data cleaning and enrichment with OpenRefine and how to use Wikidata and Wikipedia.
Anik Zingariello is the Survey and Qualitative specialist at Data Services. She studied Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience at UC San Diego and conducted sleep research for the D.o.D. She is a certified Qualtrics expert and teaches Taguette and MaxQDA.
Bonnie Lawrence is a Senior Quantitative Specialist with NYU Data Services. Bonnie holds a PhD and a MA in Experimental Psychology. She specializes in a variety of software packages for quantitative research including Stata, SPSS, R and MATLAB.
Denis Rubin is a Senior Quantitative and Data Visualization Specialist at NYU Data Services. Denis holds a MS in Medical Physics, a MS in Statistics, and a Stern MBA. He supports quantitative data visualization and analysis in a variety of software packages such as Tableau, R, Python, SAS, SPSS, MATLAB, and Qualtrics
Joshua Eisenstat is a PhD Candidate in Sociology at NYU. Their interests include elite studies, philanthropy, religion, and qualitative data analysis. They are one of the founders and organizers of NYU's Digital Ethnography Workshop. At NYU Data Services they specialize in teaching qualitative data analysis tools and strategies.
Silvia Ramírez Granados is a Master’s student at NYU specializing in Learning Technology and Experience Design.She works as a Student Training Tools Specialist, supporting tech integration in education.With a background in early childhood, she designs play-based curricula and educational games.
Ashish Noble is a second year graduate student at NYU Steinhardt pursuing an MA in Learning Technology and Experience Design. He has a background in economics, psychology and language education and his thesis explores teaching linguistic principles through game based interventions.
Fabiha Khalid is the Data Services Specialist at Dibner Library, located on NYU's Brooklyn campus. She has a premed and math background and graduated with her Master's in Computer Engineering from NYU Tandon in May 2023. She's currently focusing on outreach and engagement at Dibner, while teaching Python courses for Data Services.
Sajid Ali is a Senior Research Software Engineer at NYU Research Technology services where he works with researchers to assist in implementing appropriate software solutions. Recently, he has led the launch of the updated GenAI service for research. He has a background in scientific software development with a PhD in Applied Physics from Northwestern.
Snigdha Anantharaju is a Master’s student in Applied Urban Science and Informatics at Center for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP), NYU Tandon. Her research interests include infrastructure equity, GeoAI and application of machine learning and spatial statistics in urban environments. At NYU Data Services, she specializes in GIS, with expertise in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and StoryMaps. She also has a knack for storytelling using spatial data.
Carol Choi is the Data Reference and Collections Librarian and Liaison to NYU's Wagner School of Public Administration. She holds an MSc Built Environment: Architectural History and an MLIS. Her work at Data Services focuses on data literacy and data search and discovery.
Jovita Gandhi is a Master’s student at NYU’s Centre for Data Science. She works as a Research Assistant at NYU IT’s Research Technology Services department supporting the integration and efficient use of Generative AI for projects across inter-disciplinary fields. She holds a BSc in Economics and Finance, and is interested in researching ways to combine new and efficient methods with traditional analytics.
