The 'Final Edit' might have me 'up front,' way in the back, a blur 'in the rack' or not in at all ...but my reels & resumes, are projects I've 'worked background' on... (many seasons & days on some, 3 or 4 on a few but 1, 2 on most). "I looked for every one of them" ...every single one but "I don't steal sunshine" ...I would wait 3 weeks after the premiere or episode airing (or the whole season if I couldn't find the scene), before adding the entry. I wasn't like that at first but adopted this way of updating my reels and resumes about the 2nd half of my Non Union Career. The most recently released project(s) are on top. No set pics, hashtags or script leaks on my Facebook or Twitter. The waiting and professionalism of 'not stealing sunshine' (no hashtags, adding to resume too early or comments) will continue throughout my SAG career. If you experienced the 'Golden Age' of NYC's rebirth of the industry... before the Pandemic you witnessed quite a thing; 'non stop' filming ...bigger & bigger... 500 extras ...700, the very best in the business flocking here, making it their home; Directors, Actors, Crew ...for 10 years straight... easily ...'Hollywood on the Hudson'... & more. "I joined the 'Merry Men' on these sets for eight years. You've seen us... loud, in a group ...enjoying each other and the day while others are suffering in anxiety by themselves over any little thing they think people won't like. We had our fun and worked all the time (contrary to what people might have thought); some of us were young, some old, short, tall, fat skinny, some women and some gay... it was 'safety in numbers' (you know why). NYC was not like LA... (I've worked some sets in LA) ...or like anywhere, even... and it was a solid group that kept seeing each other booking after booking (to include crew too). The jobs and the need for 'background' keep coming in non stop. We would take submission pics of each other right in holding as the notices came in over the smartphones. Most would get it right there and then. With a yell "I got it" ...or "I just got it right now" and we were all happy for the fellow NU-BG. Info on being better and doing things this way or that was exchanged... who the great Casting Assistants were. Helping with wardrobe if something was noticed wrong... more. This only went on between us that talked to each other in groups on every set and we would see each other at the next and group up again and again. I hope to still 'show my energy' on take in the future... and have good hearty work relationship talks on set ...I enjoy the job and the people. It was such a 'perfect wave' for me doing 'Background' in NYC from 2012 until 2020. Right at the height of filming up until the lock-down... where I finally had my three vouchers and money to join the Union. It is something I could never engineer if I had to and most likely could never achieve again in my career or life. BUT "The Story's Not Over" though. I'm in this business for life y'know and I hope you are too. Thanks for checking out my site. I truly love performing from 'very young' and work within the knowledge that it has always been the same unions and same people in the unions on every set. The real truth about the industry is 'they don't let you go,' (those emails keep coming) which is great if you love it. "If you don't love this business, the whole thing is torture."
