A home video of a cloudy afternoon is interrupted by a sudden fireball coming out of a thunderstorm.

Broadcasters in the United States have to make sure that they are not airing hoaxes, according to the FCC. In this case, the reporters needed to verify the authenticity of the video and find Rita Krill.

2. A photo on Facebook leads the researchers to believe that the Rita Krill they are searching for lives in Florida.
3. To determine if there was a thunderstorm on that particular day, the reporters checked Wolfram Alpha.
4. Google Maps helped the researchers to corroborate that the house in the video was the same, including the pool.
