SUMaritan

I created this original game concept as a final project for the Fall 2020 semester of Designing Simulations and Games at NYU Steinhardt. Incorporating cognitive, emotional, sociocultural, and other evidence-based design concepts and theories, SUMaritan helps young learners reinforce mathematics for both themselves and fellow players, while also inspiring them to help others and build their own learning games.


This project focuses on a collaborative learning community and what is arguably the oldest board game– Go. The Learning in the Wild project was a semester-long observational social science research endeavor in Foundations of the Learning Sciences course in the Fall of 2020.

This one-page paper was submitted for Foundations of Cognitive Science in Fall 2020. The research addresses implementing media learning in the classroom to mitigate learning anxiety..
