My name is Charles Liu and I was born and raised in New Jersey. I am a student at NYU Tandon School of Engineering, majoring in computer science and minoring in math, cybersecurity, and business studies.
I am passionate about social good and hope to make an impact in that space using software and automation. I am curious about the potential vertical farming has to improve the state of food security around the globe, and have centered my college years around honing my skills to address this issue. I've made an effort to study abroad improve my intercultural competency. Interning at non-profits such as Build4Good and Adelante Center for Entrepreneurship allowed me to learn about vertical farming in practical business as well as practice my front-end design and coding skills. I've also used my experience interning at an NYU Tandon Future Labs startup called Peeramid to advance my back-end development knowledge about cloud computing and its use cases to automate data storage, analysis, and application building.

GLASS provides me resources and guidance to further my education, expand my social network, and explore exciting career opportunities. I've broken out of my comfort zone with program funds by studying and volunteering abroad in the United Arab Emirates, Tanzania, and Indonesia. Through GLASS events I've met fascinating peers and lifelong friends. Utilizing workshops and mentors, I've improved how I present myself to potential employers through resume and cover letter writing and interview preparation.Â
My favorite part of the GLASS is the feeling of community and support that I have with my friends in the program.
