"I don’t know if [interdisciplinary learning's] beneficial, but it’s super fun."
"I prefer solo projects. I can tackle every aspect of a project. Groups are fun when everyone’s on it and responsible. Logistically, it is more challenging."
"[I don't like projects because you] help people with the learning curve. Lots of conflict and presentations, which can be challenging for other majors. "
"I was totally new for [my course in a different department]... I cannot understand what they said while they were discussing the assignments. What's more, I couldn't take over too many tasks for the assignment because my level for that was totally different from those teammates."
"Was able to find Interdisciplinary courses only because it was cross-listed also in my own program."
"I somewhat know something is happening but like, I don't really know that much about it. So I feel less inclined to go or see."
"Internship fair is vey helpful, but I only know about it this year, after 3 years."
"To collaborate on project, Have to find the people who also cares about it first. Don’t know where they are."
"Student communities and programs often organize fun events! But as a student with busy schedule and living far from campus, I can't attend every events and it sometimes makes me feel I'm less connected with peers."
"I would love more extracurricular collaboration but I often can't make events happening on campus in Brooklyn because I work 9-5 during the week."
"It would be nice. It's just, I think the problem is that it's not easily stacked into my schedule."
Students generally value feeling connected to the community, but don't currently feel connected to the NYU Brooklyn community.
Despite this, students feel satisfied with their current low levels of connection. Why?
"I work full-time and have no time to explore classes of other majors."
"I am taking the courses and going home. It is nice to know people but not necessary or a priority"
"I don't wanna go alone on top my classmates not being there too. It feels like too much, especially because I'm physically far from campus."
"I would go if I knew more people were going. For example, [the ALT department] had a happy hour yesterday, but I didn't know if anyone was going/who was going and I was not compelled to go alone"
