Talkspace

Description: An online and mobile therapy platform that offers youth and adult therapy services. Youths ages 13-17 living in NYC can access free counseling.

Support Groups

Community Healing Network

Description: Provides community programming through support groups that tackle internalized racism and promotes healing. They also host community healing days, events, and community lunch breaks.

Sista Afya

Description: A community wellness support group for black women. They provide one on one therapy sessions, group counseling, workshops, and they also host a podcast.

Description: Offers support groups around anxiety, depression, stress, life transition to black women and girls

Description: Online support group for black women. The group explores the experiences and identities of black women in various spaces. The also offer online support groups for men.

Black Girls Smiles

Description: Gender-responsive and culturally-affirming mental wellness education, resources, and support geared toward Black women and girls. They also offer a therapy assistance program that provides financial assistance for therapy sessions

Sad Girls Club

Description: An online platform and in person community committed to bring girls together who are battling mental illness. The platform offers group support in the form of chat rooms led by mental health facilitators, mental health resources, and in-person events.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

Description: Host in-person and online support groups, educational classes, and community events. Every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month the organization also host a virtual support group called Black Minds Matter for black individuals living with mental illnesses or facing mental health challenges.

     Description: The leading non-profit for suicide prevention and crisis intervention for LGBTQ young people. The            organization provides 24/7 services for crisis intervention and provides mental health resources and information          pertaining to LGBTQ mental health matters. Youth can also participate in TrevorSpace, an online community.

The Black Athlete Sister Circle

    Description: The Black Athlete Sister Circle is a movement designed by Tomika Ferguson to empower Black             women athletes. BASC provides a tailored experience for Black women college athletes through several key               themes: athlete identity, campus climate, and mentorship. BASC has active chapters in Virginia,             Maryland,       and Kentucky.

Crisis Lines

BlackLine

     Description: Offers peer support, counseling, and affirms the lived experiences of folks who are the most                    impacted by systemic oppression. As a LGBTQ+ and Black Femme lens. The purpose of the BlackLine is also to        provide people with an anonymous and confidential avenue to report negative, physical, and inappropriate contact       with police and vigilantes. They include vigilante contact because of what can happen to folks in rural and                    suburban communities at the hands of local community members. BlackLine can gather needed information to            share with local community organizers and officials to create the most effective response to police and/or vigilante       contact.

Description: Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones

Description: Provides 24/7 support and crisis intervention. Text HOME to 741741 to be connected to a trained Crisis Counselor from anywhere in the U.S.

The Trevor Project

Men to Heal

Description:  The Men to Heal initiative encourages men to pay more attention to their overall wellness, and emotional, mental, and physical health, to communicate effectively, and to increase their knowledge of self. The founder of Men to Heal, James Harris also runs a community wellness center the Healing Hub. The Healing Hub provides outpatient therapy, yoga, mindfulness, massage, reiki, and financial resources to residents in Richmond, Virginia.

The Okra Project

Description: Creates initiatives to provide mutual aid and other resources to the Black Trans Community. Initiatives include The Black Trans Joy Fund – a fund for mental health related services. They also have a partnership with BetterHelp to extend free and reduced-cost access to mental health resources to individuals who meet the eligibility criteria
