Fundraising
We organised a fundraising event following the earthquakes in Turkey. By mobilizing resources and rallying the college community, we not only raised critical funds for earthquake relief but also created awareness about the impacts of natural disasters on communities.

Participating in Conversations to Remember has significantly enriched my professional, and personal development. Professionally, it improved my communication and empathy skills, essential for working effectively with diverse populations. Personally, the experience cultivated patience, active listening, and a sense of purpose by making a tangible difference in the lives of seniors. Overall, it reinforced my commitment to pursuing a career that combines social impact with community engagement.
Melbourne Bioinnovation Student Initiative: Brain-Computer Interface Project
As the team Leader of the Human Interaction Subsystem, I led nine experiments with paraplegic pilots and obtained brain signals via EEG. Our goal was to engineer wheelchair prototypes and gaze tracking to establish motor imagery-based mobilisation.
Empower Lab Sugar Dating Team Leader
Serving as the Team Leader for the Sugar Dating team at Empower Lab strengthened my leadership and project management skills, as I took on responsibilities like onboarding new members, delegating tasks, and driving research initiatives. Academically, the experience deepened my understanding of gender studies and social inequalities, motivating me to pursue further research in these areas.

Semester-Long Design Project: The Laundromatic Head of Production
I collaborated in a semester-long project to design and build the Laundromatic, an automated laundry sorter aimed at reducing time and effort for users, particularly targeting individuals with disabilities and pregnant women.
We developed and tested a prototype that utilized a color sensor and Arduino for sorting laundry. I oversaw the production process, including laser cutting, and managed the assembly of the device using CAD drawings.
Thanks to this project, I now have the fundamental knowledge of Arduino RedBoards, Arduino IDE, servo motors, and CAD: Fusion 360.
Koc University Translational Medical Research Center, Research Assistant
I worked under the supervision of Ozgur Oktem, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology, in the translational medical research lab of Koc University.
We investigated the effect of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) on progesterone synthesis by treating post-surgical tissues with follicular granulosa cells.
Empower Lab - Research Assistant
This experience enhanced my understanding of clinical research and advocacy, equipping me with skills in trauma-informed care and gender equity issues. It also opened doors for future career opportunities in the medical field as the principal investigator, Dr Veronica Ades is a great mentor for all of us.
My involvement in the lab's research contributed to a deeper understanding of gender-based violence, its impacts, and the complexities surrounding it. Combined with my engineering background, I believe this approach made me a well-rounded scientist.
Yale School of Medicine: Sozen Lab - Summer Visiting Student
Collaborated on stem cell self-patterning research under the mentorship of PhD candidate Monique Pedroza. I contributed to a Nature publication by conducting confocal imaging, analyzing developmental lineages with LasX and Fiji, and visualizing results using GraphPad Prism. Gained hands-on experience with cell passaging and AggreWell plating, deepening my skills in developmental biology and regenerative medicine.
Presidential Internship Program
As the only engineering student admitted to the cohort, I embraced the unique challenge of working in the Department of Campus Safety. I organized tabling events, delivered presentations on bystander intervention, and became a vocal advocate for student welfare.
Alongside a fellow intern, Christina, we secured a $5,000 grant to develop a wellness program uniquely tailored for our department from scratch. This year I will be working at Wasserman Career Services, further exploring the atmosphere in higher education.

I completed the Global Tech Program of Podium Education, taking project-based courses on SQL, Tableau and Python. I wish to continue developing programming skills as it’s essential for a scientific researcher to analyze and manage mass data.
I also took a graduate-level Computational Genomics course during my studies in Australia, where we dived into bioinformatics functions via Python.
