About Me

I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at New York University Tandon School of Engineering. Born and raised in Turkey as the only girl with three brothers in a family of six, my upbringing in a household dedicated to healthcare, with a physician father and a former nurse mother, deeply influenced my passion for medicine and scientific exploration. My academic journey has taken me from the vibrant city of Istanbul to the cutting-edge labs of New York and Melbourne. 

I studied abroad at the University of Melbourne, Australia, where I worked with a global research team to construct a brain-computer interface-based wheelchair for paraplegic patients. I also have extensive wet lab and dry lab experiences in embryology and reproductive sciences. Currently, I am a research assistant at the Empower Lab, working with the Trauma & Pregnancy, Advocacy and Sugar Dating teams. Additionally, I work on campus at the Wasserman's Career Services Office as a Presidential Intern.

My studies in chemical and biomolecular engineering have provided a robust foundation for my interests in data science and medicine. These diverse fields allow me to approach healthcare challenges with a unique analytical perspective. I believe in the power of visual storytelling to enhance understanding and communication in the medical field, capturing moments that inspire and inform.

In my free time, you'll often find me at the piano, losing myself in music, or at the gym kickboxing away the stress. I also love hosting lively dinners with friends and exploring hidden gem restaurants in the city. My ultimate dream is to attend medical school and become a physician, where I can combine my passions and make a meaningful impact on people's lives.
