Basic applications of Padlet in teaching

Brainstorm

Teachers can create a Padlet and write down topics for students' brainstorming. Once the link is shared, students can type or record their voice in the padlet.

Peer editing and giving feedbacks

All students can post their writings in the same Padlet so that everyone can have access to others' work and leave their feedbacks.

Brief introduction of VoiceThread

  • Introduction

VoiceThread is a platform where teachers can upload teaching materials and share with students so that everyone can have access to it and leave comments there by texting, recording videos and audios, and making annotations. With teachers' permission, every student can also have access to other students' comments and make further discussions.

(For more detailed information, please refer to https://voicethread.com/products/k12/ )

  • Some applications in Mandarin teaching

1) Story telling: teachers can upload the story slides or picture books and ask students to leave comments reading the story by themselves to practice oral language.

2) Asking questions: teachers can upload teaching materials used in the class so that students can review what they have learned in the class and ask questions they don't understand in the class. This can help teachers better know what their students need and help them learn better.

3) Presentations: students can upload their own resources and make presentations. Students can also invite their group members and present together. Using this platform, students can practice many times until they think it's good enough.

4) Discussion and oral practice homework: teachers can assign oral practice homework for students to talk about their opinions about something and share it in the platform so that others can have further discussions with them. This can make homework more interactive and help students have deeper thinking.

Brief introduction of Flipgrid

Flipgrid Tutorial (from the internet)

Flipgird

Flipgrid is a platform for teachers to assign oral tasks for their students. Students can record their responses and send them to the teachers. Also, there is a Disco Library where teachers can find tasks designed by other teachers. There are also some settings that can keep students safe. (More detailed information can be found in the tutorial.)
