New volunteers must attend ONE orientation session in order to start working in the gym.
If you are unable to attend a session please contact the student volunteer coordinators below.
Classes run Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in the NYITCOM Wellness Center, located at the NYIT DeSeversky Mansion, building H on the campus map
RSB Volunteers can expect to: help the course instructors run exercise stations; assist in boxing training by holding focus mitts; provide general physical as well as moral support throughout the class.
Rock Steady is a vigorous exercise program, however, the safety of the boxers is the top priority. Volunteers assist coaching staff monitor boxers for fall risks and overexertion.
8 AM Advanced I (Challenge)
High intensity course for boxers with the least amount of movement difficulty -- volunteers can expect complex pad work and exercises
9:30 AM Advanced II
Mid-range intensity course for boxers who have more challenges with movement yet do not require daily assistive devices
11 AM Mixed
Boxing course adapted to those with assistive devices and significant movement difficulty -- volunteers can expect to consistently support and assist boxers and staff throughout the class
