Student Based Initiatives

This program supports the mission of the College of Engineering and Computing Sciences and serves to strengthen our goal-oriented students, assisting them in the development of a strong sense of self and the cultivation of their business, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Upon completion, students will be equipped with the fundamentals needed to pursue graduate studies and prepared to join the workforce. 

Students are required to attend a certain number of diverse, interdisciplinary workshops and volunteer for a total of 40 community service hours. 

Honors College students gain additional experience in interdisciplinary, real-world problem-solving using a collaborative and project-based approach with the guidance of dedicated faculty. Honors college students have dedicated workspaces, resources, and faculty mentors to enable a rich learning community. Students will engage in exciting extra-curricular and co-curricular activities that will complement their academic lives and offer the opportunity for intellectual, personal, and social growth.

The Entrepreneurship and Technology Innovation Center (ETIC) has served as New York Tech’s hub for cultivating new businesses, products, and fresh ideas in technology, engineering, and applied sciences since 2015. The ETIC’s mission is to consolidate and expand the college’s industry-academic partnerships, foster innovation, and promote collaborations among industry, the academic community, professional organizations, and government. Students work in teams in partnership with both local and national companies to help develop working prototypes. 

Work on research or entrepreneurship projects in a group setting, under the guidance of faculty mentors. Our Undergraduate Research and Entrepreneurship Program (UREP), provides each research team with $500 to cover the cost of supply and materials. Projects will run for the entirety of the school year (two semesters). Students must maintain minimum GPAs of 3.2.
