New Spot Selection Process for Student Life Events

We hear you!

At Campus Life, we implement a screening policy that doesn't operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Instead, we employ a randomized software to select both confirmed and waitlisted students for ticketed events like this one.

The selection process is impartial, and it doesn't prioritize registration time. Therefore, your friends moving to the main list while you remain on the waiting list is a result of this randomization process.

For any queries please feel free to email us at vancouver.studentlife@nyit.edu

We want to make sure that all students will have an equal opportunity to join the events. We will be using a random.org/list to create a randomly generated list from the input list, i.e., all registered students. For instance, if we have an event that is restricted to 25 slots, the first 25 random registrations from the list will be given a slot, and the rest will be on the waitlist. If there is an available slot, registrations from 26th onwards will be informed. This way, everyone will have a fair chance of joining.

Check out the step-by-step selection process video on our Instagram below.

Student Spotlight

Jasneet Singh Parmar - MS, Cybersecurity (Current Student)

Meet Jasneet Singh Parmar @jasneet17. He is a Numismatist who collects coins, medals, or paper money. He started collecting way back when he was a kid when he found a few old coins in a box inside their storage room. This led him to have a keen interest in this hobby and explore more. That’s what got him to start his first numismatics group in his school, where all the members shared their collections with full details and where they would have a knowledge-filled discussion about their collections. This hobby started to grow on him, and he started to collect more and more numismatic items from all over the world.

Jasneet exhibits a few of his ever-expanding collections on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram in the hope that the world will recognize this hobby of the kings as a universal hobby and more people will take an interest in it. He has also been a member of 2 of the most respectable numismatics societies globally.

You can check out his collection here @the_numismatics_dude

At the New York Institute of Technology Vancouver Campus, we strive to empower and educate our students to become historically informed, inclusive and respectful citizens in Canada's multicultural society. We are committed to participate in the truth and reconciliation process to contribute to the continued healing among Indigenous People. We acknowledge that the lands upon which our campuses are located are traditional territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Selilwitulh (Tsleil- Waututh) Nations. We are grateful for the Indigenous people's stewardship of the land and acknowledge how they have shaped, and continue to shape, our experiences here.
