Dr. Wei-Chen Huang obtained her BS, and MS degree in Materials Science & Engineering from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University in 2009. She joined Delta Electronics Ltd as a chemical engineer from 2010 to 2011. Wei-Chen received her PhD degree at Materials Science & Engineering in NYCU in 2015. From 2015 to 2017, Wei-Chen was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Materials Science and Engineering of Carnegie Mellon University in the United States. Then she served as a faculty in Taipei Medical University as an Assistant Professor in the Graduate Institute of Biomedical Materials and Tissue Engineering from 2017 through 2019. Since 2019, Wei-Chen served in the Department of Electronics & Electrical Engineering in NYCU, and also co-jointed in the Institute of Biomedical Engineering. Currently, she is an Associate Professor at NYCU.
Dr. Huang’s recent research includes the development of bioconformal smart electronics applied for invasive/non-invasive prosthetics, drug delivery electronics, and biosensors. She laid the foundation on creating a variety of organic/inorganic composite materials that can replace typical electronic materials in the application of implanted neural electrode and wearable chemical/physical sensors for EEG/ECG/EMG/ECoG sensing, electrical stimulation with improved biocompatibility and signal transduction quality. The electronic devices can even allow controlled drug/gene/growth factors delivery to for both diagnosis/therapy. Wei-Chen's group is also targeting on pathfinding of eco-friendly, facile, cost-effective, and scalable device microfabrication process such as transfer printing, 3D printing, and screen printing process. The team's achievement is the representative of interdisciplinary combination that includes device design/fabrication, heterogeneous integration of soft transducer/electrode and circuit systems, biological responses, signal processing and final data collection/analysis.
