2025 Grants Awarded
Brad Larrabee, NES and IRES Prinicpal received a grant for Dynamite Decodable readers that allow the teachers to providing additional grade level texts that help strengthen reading skills.
Brittany Burhans, NHS Health Assistant received a grant for a new wheelchair at the Northwestern High School to offer students, staff, or teachers who need extra support more accessibility.
Allison Melde, Art Teacher at the Northwestern Middle and High School received a grant to help NMS student council members document their activities during the school year.
Jaimi Teal, Math Teacher at the Northwestern Middle School received a grant to provide incentives in the classroom for her hardworking math students.

Nick Olson, Physical Education teacher at the Northwestern Middle School received a grant for a new record board to put in the gymnasium to incentive students to reach for their best goals.

Candi Stariha, Administrative Assistant at the Northwestern Middle School received a grant to help keep our students hydrated by purchasing extra, re-usable water bottles in the office for students who need them.
Ms. Radig, FCS Teacher at the Northwestern High School received a grant for new Kitchen Aid mixers so her students can learn how to make more complex dishes, work on math skills by having to measure ingredients, explore chemical reactions when seeing how ingredients change and hopefully make delicious meals for their families!!
Ms. Gidley, SS and ELA 8th grade teacher at the Northwestern Middle School received a grant for point and shoot cameras that will be used, under her direct supervision, to help classes learn how to incorporate technology into research projects.
Mr. Leith, Eighth Grade ELA teacher at the Northwestern Middle School received a grant for alternative seating in his classroom. Mr. Leith spoke to other schools about how alternative seating can improve academics for students and contribute to higher test scores.
Mr. Larrabee, Principal of Northwestern Elementary and Iron River Elementary Schools received a grant to hold a Kindness Retreat in 2025 for all 4th and 5th grade students at NES and IRES. Youth Frontiers mission is to "reach kids at critical ages to provide them with dynamic experiences that enhance self-awareness, empathy and connectedness."

Mrs. Kaufman, School Counselor of Northwestern Middle School received a grant to hold a Courage Retreat in the fall of 2025 for 6th grade students. Youth Frontiers mission is to "reach kids at critical ages to provide them dynamic experiences that enhance self-awareness, empathy and connectedness."
