Welcome to our ELT Prototype Site! This site is a work in progress and will shift to meet the needs of our ELTs.
Northwest Regional Education Service District (NWRESD) currently has 19 Equity Learning Teams (ELTs) representing different departments, sites, and programs within our organization. Each ELT is consists of staff members committed to ongoing learning and dedicated to examining their systems in order to identify specific equity challenges.
While learning is an ongoing process, we also recognize that action must take place in order to move our organization forward on our anti-racist multicultural continuum and improve our practices to better support our community.
The goal of our ELTs is to create meaningful relationships with those we serve and co-design solutions to the barriers that have been built into our systems.
Design Lab dates for the upcoming year are TBD. We are tentatively looking at the following convening time frames:
August - October: Individual Jumpstart meetings with teams August-October
November OR December: Design Lab
February: Design Lab
April: Student CAfE / Design Lab combination
NWRESD began a partnership with National Equity Project in 2020 with a focus on developing the capacity for student-facing department leaders to lead for equity. The following year Equity Learning Teams were formed. This first group of ELTs is now called Cohort 1. Cohort 1 participated in 5 virtual learning sessions facilitated by NEP and NWRESD's Office of Equity and Family Partnership (EFP) as well as engaging in further learning and equity work within their own departments . Currently Cohort 1 is moving their equity learning into equity action.
In 2022 NWRESD added 5 new ELTs from our Operations Departments. These collective teams make up Cohort 2. By April, 2023 Cohort 2 will have completed 5 equity learning sessions. A key component of Cohort 2's learning process is better understanding the complex equity challenges faced by the ELTs in Cohort 1. As Cohort 2 better understands their own systems, they will also move into identifying equity challenges that direct their equity action.
