Mr. Clymer is excited to return for his first full year teaching at Northwestern Lehigh Middle School! Last year at Northwestern Lehigh, he directed the chorus and assistant directed the musical, Moana Jr., along with teaching traditional music and piano lab classes. Mr. Clymer is looking forward to working with the students in the general music courses, chorus, the musical, and the marching band. As a performer, Mr. Clymer has participated in numerous classical and jazz ensembles, focusing on his voice and high brass. Mr. Clymer performs around the community on trumpet, French horn, and piano, along with singing. Over the summer, he taught brass and piano lessons through the Quakertown Community School District. He’s ecstatic to work with everyone and looking forward to this school year and the years to come!
Mr. Clymer is a graduate of Quakertown Community School District, where he blossomed his passion for music, and Moravian University with a B.M. in Music Education with a vocal focus. While at Moravian University, Mr. Clymer was an active participant in all levels of choir, band, and orchestra, performing repertoire from the medieval period up to today, covering both classical and jazz. He was the first freshman in the college's history (and the only under Moravian College name) to complete an independent study, focusing on Renaissance and Baroque counterpoint.
Through his teaching, Mr. Clymer tackles all subjects possible, presenting a cross-curricular approach to music. His teaching connects the core subjects to music in many ways and opens up a path for students to discover the connection of all fields of study. He loves learning new things as well, especially as his students make their own discoveries!
Outside of school, Mr. Clymer loves running (he just completed his first official 5k in August!), hiking, watching Philadelphia sports, watching soccer, and playing video games. He also enjoys attending free concerts in the area and discovering new music.
