About

Stephen Pearson, President and Principal of NW Compass Point Consulting and Research, has consulted with a variety of different clients and executed market research projects since 1996. In addition to engaging with both vendor and client-side firms for market research, he has served as a guest lecturer at the Foster School of Business (at the University of Washington in Seattle), volunteered with the MIT Enterprise Forum of the Northwest and also has worked with early stage Internet start-ups to identify new business opportunities, refine business plans and go-to-market strategy.

Originally established in the summer of 2009, NW Compass Point went into hiatus in late 2010 but was re-established in the summer of 2017. Prior to restarting NW Compass Point, Stephen was a Director with Ipsos, a leading global market research firm.  Over the course of 6+ years with Ipsos, he managed custom quantitative market research projects for clients in the online search, wireless and technology industries, including substantial work with Apple, Google and T-Mobile.  He handled an array of different kinds of projects, but developed particular expertise in managing surveys for several Market Research Online Communities (MROCs), and played a leading role in a number of high-profile studies in support of the development of new products and services.  While at Ipsos, his project execution, collaboration and teamwork skills helped secure repeat business in the six-figure range with key technology and wireless industry clients.

In addition to Ipsos, Stephen has held research roles at Blink UX (a design and UX research agency), YouGov, LinkedIn, comScore, Ask.com, InfoWorld Media Group (an IDG-owned trade publication for IT professionals) and Frost & Sullivan (an international marketing, consulting and training firm).  A veteran and former officer in the surface fleet of the U.S. Navy,  Stephen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Washington and a Master of Arts in International Affairs from American University (Washington, DC).
