The Northwest High School Marching Band is a part of a strong tradition of bands at Northwest High School, striving to perpetuate the legacy of quality bands created by the pioneering spirit of Emil Puffenberger (1909–1990), long time Northwest High School (Canal Fulton High School) band director from 1935–1972.
Under the direction of Stephen Imler, the Northwest High School Marching Band continues to build upon this proud foundation of excellence. Assistant band directors Kim Good and David Jenkins, along with Associate Director Sam Samuelson, support the growth and musical development of the ensemble. The percussion section is led by staff members Nathaniel Weber, Mat Markuz, and Ryder Smith, while the auxiliary program is guided by coordinator Julie McLaughlin.
The band maintains an active performance schedule, participating in five parades annually, including the prestigious Pro Football Hall of Fame Parade. In addition, the marching band is competing in four OMEA marching band competitions this season, marking its fourth year of participation in competitive marching band events.
This year is especially exciting for the program, as the band proudly debuts brand new uniforms and prepares for a memorable trip to perform at Walt Disney World in November. With a continued commitment to excellence, tradition, and growth, the Northwest High School Marching Band remains a source of pride for the school and community.
