Napa County’s mental health needs have grown over the decades becoming more complex due to the added stressors of the last several years, especially in areas prone to wildfires. Today we are working further upstream offering services from prevention to treatment to avoid mental health challenges before they become insurmountable.

Mariposa - Vanessa Rubio
Mariposa is a program of the Napa County Office of Education, supporting over 1,500 Latine and non-traditional students since 2010.
Every year, Mariposa serves approximately 150 youth in 11 middle and high schools across the city of Napa and American Canyon. Evidence-based curriculum is delivered through weekly one-hour restorative group mentoring sessions. The program aims to foster positive youth development, build-in protective factors, increase healthy choices, and gain leadership/advocacy skills, and school engagement. Mariposa intentionally embraces a gender inclusive framework including mentorship, trauma informed practices, strengths-based mindset and cultural competency.

I am a Case Manager for Aldea's Substance Use Disorder Services. At Aldea we provide therapeutic and support services to equip individuals with the tools they need for enhancing their health, relationships, and their overall quality of life. I specialize in working with youth by providing them with the information and education necessary so that they may make the best life choices possible in their life journey.
