At just 8 years old, Ebo was handed over to his sister and her husband, forced to work on Lake Volta. For eight years, he endured long hours in dangerous conditions, paddling canoes and casting nets, depriving him of childhood.

Ebo's daily routine began at 4 am and extended well into the night. He faced extreme risks, often beaten for mistakes. 

Ebo fished alongside his friend Malik, who was also a victim of trafficking. The heart-wrenching loss of Malik, who drowned while trying to free a net, entrenched fear in Ebo’s life, making him dread similar incidents.

At 16, Ebo was rescued by Challenging Heights, a Ghanaian NGO dedicated to liberating children from slavery. He received specialized rehabilitation focusing on his educational, physical, and emotional needs, essential for his recovery.

Today, Ebo lives with his aunt and has re-entered school, where he thrives academically. He dreams of becoming a bank manager, demonstrating the transformative power of education and support in escaping the cycle of poverty.
