Kobe Bryant, former Los Angeles Laker star player, has died in a helicopter crash along with nine others on Jan. 26th, 2020, in Calabasas, CA. Bryant was known and loved by everyone, therefore Northwest students are mourning him and his daughter, Gianna’s death.
Bryant was a part of many people’s childhood, so when new broke that Bryant died, it was hard on many people, including the students at Northwest. Since there was no school the day he died, many students shared it on social media. Many news channels have accounts on instagram and twitter, so their posts were shared on stories and tweets were retweeted.
Aaron Carranaza, freshman, has loved basketball since he was a little kid. “I always looked up to Kobe just like everyone else, finding out he died didn’t feel real. It felt like I lost someone important to me because he was important to me.”
Connor Holland, freshman, said “I found out through social media and I was in disbelief. I just think it’s crazy how he was here one day and the next day he was gone. To be honest, I was upset once it really settled in.”
A majority of Northwest students were upset due to the news and that is no surprise. Bryant was a legend and will be remembered and mourned by everyone. Rest in Peace Kobe Bryant.
