Hello, my name is Mrs. Pierce and I am the School Social Worker for Eva G. Simmons Elementary School. This is my second year at Simmons and my 4th year as a School Social Worker. I am a fully licensed clinical social worker by the State of Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers. I have been in clinical practice since 2014, starting in community-based mental health agencies. My background includes working with all ages of trauma survivors and their families, as well as with various other specialized mental health disorders. I enjoy providing clinical services to children and youth most of all and the opportunity to work with students inside the school community. During the school year I continue to provide clinical services at a community based agency part-time.
I received my Associates Degree in Psychology from College of Southern Nevada. From there I transferred to University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, to complete my Bachelors Degree in Social Science-Psychology. Afterwards, I pursued my Masters of Social Work Degree from the University of Southern California. Following my Masters degree I entered into a supervised clinical internship for 2.5 years to obtain my clinical license.
My ohana consists of my husband, two children, and 4 animals. Our animals include: two desert tortoises, one dog, and one hedgehog. In my free time I enjoy doing yoga, reading a good book, being crafty, gardening, hiking, and boating with my family. My favorite places to travel are Ohio to see my friends and family, and to Maui in Hawaii to see my best friend and relax. When our two children are older my husband and I want to travel the world to see places like Italy, Greece, Germany, France, Spain, Ireland, Thailand, Japan, Australia, and South America. To see more of my favorite things, check out the pictures below.
This year I have added a new member to my clinical practice, her name is Violet and she is a Hedgehog. Violet will be joining me to provide emotional support to students at Eva G. Simmons. She understands what it's like to be shy and scared, and she can help show students how to relax and feel safe.
*Violet is still a baby and is learning how she can best help others, so during this time she will only be handled by Mrs. Pierce.
