Introduction: Students in Chinese Level 1 class will focus their learning on Pinyin, the official phonetic system for transcribing the Mandarin pronunciations of Chinese characters into Latin alphabets. Level 1 students will be able to understand and communicate at the word level and can independently identify and recognize memorized words and phrases. Moreover, students will observe and participate in culturally authentic activities contribute to familiarization with cultural products and practices.
