5th Grade Great American Challenge

Great American Award

Fifth grade students at Heckethorn Elementary School are encouraged to participate in "The Great American" Challenge.

The Great American award is given to all fifth grade students who successfully complete the following requirements:

1. Recite the Gettysburg Address (3 helps).

2. Recite the names of the 45 presidents in order (3 helps, initials only).

3. Recite the states and capitals in alphabetical order (2 helps).

4. Recite or sing the National Anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner". (no helps)

5. Recite the Preamble to the Constitution of the United States (no helps).

6. Write the Pledge of Allegiance (no spelling or punctuation errors).

Students who earn the Great American Award are honored at a program.
