Members of the Wind Ensemble are the most advanced performers in the Coronado High School Instrumental Music Program. They perform college/professional level literature and demonstrate advanced technique while representing Coronado High School in a variety of performances throughout the school year. Members of this ensemble are expected to attend all after school rehearsals, sectionals during festival time, and pass off all required music on time.
The Symphonic Band presents a balanced program of technical development and musical performance, and represents Coronado High School in a variety of performances throughout the school year. It is expected that all members will work towards improvement and possible advancement into the Wind Ensemble. Members of this ensemble are expected to attend all after school rehearsals, sectionals during festival time, and pass off all required music on time. These students are also required to participate in the Basketball Pep Band
The Concert Band presents a balanced program of technical development and musical performance, and represents Coronado High School in a variety of performances throughout the school year. The Marching Band is the most publicly visible performing ensemble at Coronado High School. Because of this notoriety, members must always display an attitude of discipline, enthusiasm, and pride. All Marching Band members are expected to attend band camp as well as all rehearsals, performances, and travel outside of the school day. The Marching Band meets for the first three months of the school year and students are expected to attend all in school and out-of-school rehearsals and performances. Members of this ensemble are required to pass off marching band music, attend all rehearsals for participation in performances, as well as being co-enrolled in a Concert Ensemble Class.
The Coronado Color Guard adds color, excitement, and visual enhancement to the marching band show. The Color Guard is open to all Coronado High School Students and will receive training from qualified guard instructors. After the marching season is complete, the Color Guard transitions to participating in their winterguard season. This group will participate in local performances in the winter and spring. These students will be enrolled in Rhythmic Precision for the second semester.
Coronado High School has two Jazz Bands and they explore a variety of jazz literature and techniques, and performs within the school and local community. The ensembles also participate in various jazz festivals during the school year. There will be limited rehearsals outside of the school day that are required of all members.
Indoor percussion is a high-energy preformance activity that combines elements of powerful music, synchronized movement, and visual storytelling. Preformed indoors during the winter season, it features a percussion ensemble made up of marching drums (battery) and stationary percussion instruments (front ensemble). Indoor percussion offers students a unique opportunity to develop musical skills, teamwork, and creativity in a competitive and artistic setting.
