Have a master's degree in School Counseling (or higher) or be nationally certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC)
Complete at least 600 hours of a practicum/ internship in a K-12 setting
Have at least 36 graduate credits in school guidance and counseling in each of the following areas of study:
The process of individual counseling;
The process of group counseling;
Testing and educational assessments;
Legal and ethical issues in counseling;
Career counseling;
Organization and administration of school counseling programs;
Multicultural counseling;
Child and family counseling; and
Two of the following:
The use of technology in education
Exceptional children
Human growth and development
Substance abuse counseling
Reactive
Services to some
