The mission of the Black Student Union is to promote a positive and productive representation of the African American community on and off the Centennial High School campus. We promote proactive leadership, scholarship, community outreach, and student empowerment. We embrace our cultural heritage, unity, and the appreciation of diversity.
The Black Student Union(BSU) of Centennial High School is committed to intellectual, cultural, social and ethnic diversity. The focus of BSU is to build awareness, education, and a new level of consciousness. We aim to teach others about diversity and show that through engaging in activities focused around acceptance and tolerance, we will get a better understanding of others while learning about ourselves.
The BSU's Vision is to build positive self-esteem, build encouragement, gain friendship and create Leaders, Achievers and Believers.
The goal of this club is to provide students with an opportunity to engage in activities and discussions designed to help foster a better understanding of experiences and issues that impact African-American students. This club is open to all students regardless of racial and/or cultural differences. This club welcomes diversity as it provides a table for rich discussion, understanding and acceptance. The club is student governed with faculty supervision and sponsorship. The advisors of this organization aim to assist committed members of the Black Student union with obtaining scholarships and getting into college.
