Part of our AVID requirement has students complete a series of donations each month that helps to benefit community organizations like the CCSD Nevada Refugee School Impact Program, Nevada United Service Organizations, Noah's Animal House, Las Vegas Rescue Mission, Ronald McDonald House, Feed the Children and many more.
Additionally, scholars are required to complete a minimum of 16 hours of community service a year. Community Involvement is a crucial component of the Gibson Leadership Academy. America has a long and proud tradition of volunteer service. The goal of the program is to teach responsible citizenship and help students look outward and become involved in their community. Familys have served with Special Olympics, the Clark County Library, Three Square Food Bank and many more.

Additonally, our scholars have an oppertunity serve as mentors. 8th graders pairs mentor assigned 6th grade and 7th graders throughout the school year. They help both get aquanted with their new roles, expecatations and responsiblieties as new AVID middle school scholars. Fun Fridays are created to allow these new family groups to bond and help each other reach their goals for the year.
