All are welcome every Saturday at noon at the City Impact Center, 950 E. Sahara Ave. for a barbeque meal, worship, and bible study. Wednesdays and Thursdays a food pantry operates from 10:00 to 2:00 PM at the City Impact Campus at 968 E. Sahara Ave. The food pantry is open to anyone living in a house or apartment that can provide valid proof of residency that they live in the 90101, 89104, 89109, 89169, 89121 or 89119 zip codes and have picture id.

Clark County Social Services – (702) 455-3440

Provides a variety of services for needy residents of Clark County who are not assisted by other state, federal or local programs. Services are primarily targeted for childless adults. The primary mandates are to provide financial and medical assistance, protective services for seniors. Social Service is also responsible for other programs and duties assigned by the Board of County Commissioners.

Social Services: Their mission is to provide individuals and families facing a temporary crisis with emergency assistance to meet basic needs. Depending on the individual or family situation and their available resources, they can assist with basic necessities such as emergency food, clothing, and baby food. When available, 24-hour bus passes, rent and utility payment assistance is provided.

Women, Infants and Children (WIC): This supplemental food program provides food, nutritional education, and referrals to health and public agencies to pregnant women, recently pregnant, and women with children up to the age of five.

Homeless to Home (Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program): This program provides single-men or women with children; two parent married couples; veterans of any age and seniors 62 years or older, assistance with housing, utility payment assistance, case management, job training, food and clothing to end the cycle of homelessness and to gain self-sufficiency through employment. They will assist clients for 6 months to one year, helping them end the cycle of homelessness.

St. Vincent Lied Dining Facility: This facility at 1502 North Main Street, feeds nutritious meals to homeless and needy men, women, and children every day of the year, in a clean and safe environment, no questions asked. A free community meal is served daily 10-11 AM. Additional meals are served for $3 Monday to Friday and are open to the public 7-8 AM for breakfast, 12-1 PM for lunch, and 3-5 PM for dinner. Sunday lunch is served 12-1 PM and dinner is served 3-5 PM.

Community Food Pantry: This pantry provides groceries for individuals and families in need Monday through Friday 8 AM to 3 PM.

St. Vincent HELP Apartments: These 120 fully furnished apartments are specifically designed to help men and women regain their independence and transition to permanent housing.

A local public agency whose role is to help keep children safe. The agency was formed in response to the merger of state and county child welfare services. Services include adoption, case management, child abuse hotline, child protection, independent living, and the parenting project.

Foster Kinship – (702) 546-9988

Foster Kinship is a comprehensive support program for kinship caregivers in Nevada designed to increase the stability and well-being of the kinship family.

HELP of Southern Nevada – (702) 369-4357

A community resource that assists families and individuals through direct services, training and referral to community resources. The building blocks lead to four cornerstones: Housing, Emergency Services, Life Skills and Prevention. Below are some of the services they offer.

Nevada 2-1-1: An easy to remember telephone number that connects callers to free information about critical health and human services available in their community. The center is staffed by live information and referral specialists who are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Shannon West Homeless Youth Center: Residential facility for youth ages 16-21. The youth live in studio apartments and learn the basic life skills necessary to reach independence. The campus provides 24-hour staffing for supervision and transportation of the residents.

Work Opportunities Readiness Center (W.O.R.C.): offers free assistance to anyone who has recently lost his or her primary source of income due to job lay-offs, divorce, death, or disability

The Community Alternative Sentencing Program (CAS): Gives court appointed individuals the opportunity to serve the community.

Lutheran Social Services – (702) 639-1730

A social ministry with supportive services for senior citizens, youth, and low-income families. The agency has the following services currently available to families in need:

Emergency Food Pantry: Supermarket style client-choice emergency food pantry where clients are given a cart to select fresh produce and packaged food items for themselves.

Emergency Services Program: Temporary financial support through rental and utility assistance for low-income individuals living at/or below the poverty line.

Career Connections Center: Provides employment search and retention services to individuals and families. They provide birth certificates and state identification documents necessary for obtaining employment in Nevada.

Supportive Housing Program (Project Return Home): Family supportive transitional housing services provided through three apartment homes for homeless families. This community-based program offers homeless families in the community, whose other resources have been exhausted, transitional housing with wrap around supportive services. It requires the head of household to be willing and able to participate in a written case service plan, which will within 24 months facilitate long-term stabilization, employment and housing.

Juvenile Work Permits (ages 14-17)

All juveniles between the ages of 14 and 17 years of age must obtain a Work Permit for each job held until the age of 18. An exception to this would be a juvenile working in a family-owned business. Juvenile Work Permits are issued Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Payment Center, for a fee of $1.00 by the Department of Juvenile Justice Services.

Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth (ages 12-24)

A youth service provider in Nevada with a continuum of care extending from street outreach and 24-hour crisis intervention services to a full-time drop-in center and an independent living program. No parental consent is needed.

NV Child Seekers

A nonprofit, missing children’s organization in Nevada that does not charge for their services. The organization works to keep parents closely involved in their cases and is available to assist the proper authorities. Trained, police-screened volunteers carry out many of the education programs.

Safe Place Mobile Crisis

Provides access to immediate help and supportive resources for young people in crisis through a network of sites sustained by qualified agencies, trained volunteers, and businesses. Through a partnership with Terrible Herbst Gaming, the program is available 24-hours a day to any youth in crisis at all Terrible Herbst convenience stores.

Provides residential and day programming for at-risk youth that are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. The Youth Center motivates residents towards reaching self-sufficiency by providing the training and skills to further their education, employment, social and life skills. The Youth Center is a residential facility for youth ages 16-21.

Sierra NV Job Corps (ages 16-24)

A no-cost education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16 through 24 improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training. The Job Corps program is authorized by Title I-C of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998.

Southern NV Children First

A non-profit organization created to mentor, educate and train homeless, pregnant and parenting youth and young adults. Southern Nevada Children First takes care of the youths basic necessities like food and shelter while teaching them how to be positive parents and independent adults. They are able to assist youth through comprehensive programs and services.

Street Teen Drop-In Shelter (ages 12-21)

A volunteer based, non-profit organization dedicated to assisting homeless, abandoned, and at risk youth, ages 12-21, in the Las Vegas Valley. Their primary goal is to meet the survival needs of our youth by providing basic necessities in a safe, compassionate environment. They provide access to educational, health care, and employment resource services through a drop-in center and by actively collaborating with community partners.

YMCA of Southern Nevada

As part of the YMCA’s summer food program, children receive up to two meals a day and participate in recreational and learning activities to keep their bodies and minds active. The YMCA’s summer food program helps children stay well-nourished, active and energized all summer long, and also provide some important relief to struggling families.
